CANCELLATION OF BLITHE SPIRIT PERFORMANCES
It is with regret and disappointment that we are announcing cancellation of all remaining performances (March 13, 14, 15, 19, 20 and 21) of our production of Blithe Spirit at the Nevada Theatre. The cancellation is based upon the guidance relating to public gatherings issued by the State of California on March 11, 2020 and our concern about the health and safety of our audiences, cast, production staff and ushers.
Sierra Stages is a non-profit, tax-exempt organization. Our mission is to enrich the cultural life of Nevada County by providing high quality, affordable and accessible performances for everyone. We have tried to fulfill this mission over the past 11 years and intend to continue to produce live theater in our community for local actors, local production staff and local audiences.
Blithe Spirit was our 40th staged production and represents hundreds of hours of effort, as well as infinite talent and energy, on the part of our cast, director, designers, technicians, and staff. Producing “Blithe Spirit” also required significant expenditures—including paying for royalties; set, lighting and costume expenses; theatre, rehearsal space and shop rent; and marketing costs —which we will not be able to recover because we were able to hold only half of our scheduled twelve performances.
If you have purchased single tickets to one of the remaining performances of Blithe Spirit, you may:
• Donate your ticket(s), and receive a tax deduction for the total ticket value.
• Receive a refund for the value of the ticket(s).
If you are a season pass holder and have tickets for one of the remaining performances of Blithe Spirit (or have not yet booked your tickets for Blithe Spirit), you may:
• Donate your ticket(s), and receive a tax deduction for the total ticket value ($27/ticket).
• Receive a refund of $27/ticket.
Because we are a non-profit organization and have incurred significant expenses to produce Blithe Spirit, we hope you will consider donating your ticket(s) and receive a tax deduction. Please click on the button below to let us know what your choice will be.
Thank you for your ongoing support of Sierra Stages.
